Jordan Harper is an OC from the Supernatural Universe.
Name: Jordan Harper
Age: Nineteen
Parents: Birth; missing. Adoptive; Mother, Sara Harper. (Sara's husband, Michael: deceased)
Birthplace and circumstances of birth, relationship w/ parents: When Jordan was three years old, she was possessed by a demon with a fondness for the bodies of children (note: not Lillith). Upon kidnapping Sara Harper, and the following rescue made by Sara's in-laws and young son, the demon was exorcised and Jordan set free. She wouldn't (or couldn't) speak, but allowed Sara to carry her to the car and sat beside her son Charlie as they drove away. Sara's father-in-law, a grizzled ex-hunter himself, took one look at her and the determined look on Sara's face and said, "This little gal got a mom and dad to go to?"
The toddler had muffled a sob against Sara's neck, but had been perfectly able to hear Charlie's insistence that she come home with them to be protected, because that's what hunters do. Protect the kids that can't protect themselves.
Jordan has never shown any memory of her previous life - discovery of her name was pretty much an accident - but she's also always been extremely aware that she is a Harper by pity and decency, not by blood. And as much as she loves her family, as close as she is to them, she's always felt lost inside.
Childhood, siblings: Charlie Harper is two years older than his adopted sister, putting him at 21 when Jordan enters
shatterverse. He was five when Jordan joined the family, and has a hero complex the size of a boulder sitting on his shoulder. He sees his father as a heroic ex-hunter, killed by demons in his prime, and works hard to mirror that image. It's part of the reason why he's so protective of his sister, so insistent that she be a part of their family and that he be the one to take care of her.
Because of Charlie's devotion, he and Jordan are extremely close. He learned to read her moods and body language rather than her words, since Jordan didn't actually begin speaking until she was about eight years old. Even now, she's extremely quiet, but being away from Charlie is the hardest part of
shatterverse because he always understood her best.
Jordan's childhood was as normal as it could be. Sara was a retired hunter herself (her husband had died while she was pregnant with Charlie, which is when she stopped) and her in-laws (her husband's brother and father) were still very active. They stopped by often to teach the kids the ins and outs of hunting - not so much so they could continue in Mike Harper's footsteps (though Charlie fully intends to) but so they could protect themselves from what was out there. Sara continued that education while uncle and grandfather were away, though once out of the circle she specialized more in information than actual fieldwork.
Jordan knows her childhood, her life, is especially freakish but she sees nothing wrong with it. Her family loved each other and watched out for each other, and if they hadn't she probably wouldn't even be alive today.
School/kind of education: Formally, she has a high school diploma with high marks in every subject, but chose not to go on to college. Informally, she's been training as a hunter since she was three years old with the Harpers and has been going out on her own for the last year, teaming up with her brother on and off for the last three, and going out with her uncle and grandfather since she was about 14 (Sara protested this for about five minutes, but still scowls and worries whenever the stories are brought up).
Jordan specializes in sniping rifles but can manage most types of firearm very well. She is not a large woman but she knows how to fight and how to make her hits count.
Relationships (friends, enemies, etc.): Sara, Charlie, Uncle Jeff, Grandpa Larry, Journey*. Jordan is extremely close with all of them, Charlie most of all. She is especially precious to her grandfather for reasons she doesn't entirely understand, and still manages to be surprised by the affection in her mother and uncle toward her. She is extremely likeable and her family has been known to say that she has a sixth sense that causes everyone around her to relax and enjoy her company, but Jordan wouldn't explain it that way - too weird, not enough human.
The demon that possessed her calls itself Jasmine. She's not a fan, or a fool. She hasn't gone after her yet but she's been planning to since she was old enough to research the internet for omens.
*Journey is a bloodhound Sarah adopted for her daughter when Jordan was twelve in order to encourage her to have some sort of socializing, or at least making connections. Jordan is devoted to her dog, and the dog to her. Journey is named after the 70s rock band of which Jordan is an enormous fan. Though careful training and focused attention, Journey will obey Jordan down to the barest gesture or whispered word... but this only applies to Jordan. Pretty much anyone else will be tackled by a hundred and fifty (or so) pounds of dog.
Bad habits/Character flaws: Jordan doesn't like to speak unless absolutely necessary, but she has a loose definition of necessary. Namely, out of habit and profession, when she speaks and the way she speaks often revolves specifically around manipulating the person she's talking to. When she wants information (of a general or particular nature) she's more likely to talk to them, and to use that 'sixth sense' previously mentioned.
She smokes. Not often and never in her mother's house, but she started smoking after a job with her uncle included a run-in with demons when she was fourteen, and ever since then, every encounter with a demon has sent her running for a cigarette right after. An extremely stressful situation would have her desperate for a smoke.
She doesn't open up well, and if she does, it might be a lie used to manipulate - in order to comfort someone else so they'll stop freaking out, in order to stop a line of questioning she doesn't want to hear any more.
Physical appearance: Pale, average height (about 5'6" or so) and slender. Closer to "stocky" than "frail," but only by a half inch.
Hair Color: Black and curly.
Eye Color: Brown
Disabilities: After situations of extreme stress, Jordan either goes willingly or unwillingly mute. The duration depends on the situation that spurred it.
Jewelry/Ornamentation: She wears a protection amulet on a leather string, a beaded bracelet made of ox bone, and four silver earring studs (two in each ear). Each of these were given to her at some point in her life by her family members. Jordan also has a tattoo on the underside of her chin to prevent possession by demons. Sara took her and Charlie to get the same tattoo put on each of them shortly after formally adopting Jordan.
Class: Officially, middle. Personally, Hunter.
Rogue/Honest: Rogue, until she trusts you.
Soldier/Leader: Soldier
Merchant/Laborer: Laborer
Teacher/Student: At the moment, neither, nor would she consider herself a master. She would be willing to learn but she'd be wary of any teacher that offered.
High or Low-born: Officially, middle class. In the world of hunters, she's low-born with no official personal history and her adoptive family not especially well known.
Educated or Ignorant: Educated, officially and amid hunters. Jordan is very particular about her research and keeping up what she deems important.
Religious/Skeptical: Religious. Jordan does not believe in the existence of black without white. However, it would be extremely difficult for someone to convince her that Heaven is paying as much attention to Earth as Hell.
Clothing: Her clothes are generally thick jeans and sensible ankle-high hiking boots, tank tops and hoodies.
Weaponry: There are no less than four weapons on her person at any time. This includes, but is not limited to, the sniping rifle (detachable, usually carried in a backpack), a handgun, and a small number of knives, at least two of which are always silver.
Powers/abilities, special stuff: None. Jordan is especially proud of this, and extremely unnerved by any claims or suggestions to the contrary.
Beliefs, what does he know and need to know: Jordan knows that there are evil things in the world that need to be hunted down and killed. She's aware that she doesn't have to be the one to do it but she looks down on anyone that doesn't know the truth and do their best to fight it. You can't just ignore a problem until it goes away.
If asked, Jordan would say that she needs to know Jasmine's location and the exact recipe for how to kill a demon permanently.
What problem, why does this problem hurt?: Despite never saying anything to her adopted family, Jordan does remember bits and pieces from her life before them. Very vague bits and pieces, but they're there, like flashes of memory or emotion, or even just deja vu. They scare her, especially since she has no idea how to find out who her birth family was or how they lost her, and has even entertained the idea that she was given away. As much as she loves the Harpers, this is something that bothers her constantly, especially when the memories hit her.
Jordan also vaguely remembers her possession and the things Jasmine did to her victims at the time - including Sarah Harper. This led to guilt that, in the last nineteen years, Sarah had only just begun to have any success in healing.
Because of the way she grew up, Jordan craves contact, family, and attention, but at the same time she is extremely wary of those offering it. She misses Charlie terribly when they're away from each other but is hesitant to form bonds of her own.
Fatal Flaw: Unless told otherwise specifically, Jordan constantly assumes that she is on her own and can't rely on anyone. It's a habit the Harpers have been trying to break her of since meeting her, but one she's never fully been able to leave behind. She would risk her life for others because it's her job and that's what a hunter should do, but she would never trust anyone outside of the Harpers to do the same for her - not on faith alone.
Fears: Being alone, being possessed again.
Sources of Anger: Any mistreatment of children whatsoever, especially possession.
Sources of Sadness: Losing her family, any flashes of memory of her birth family.
Sources of Happiness: Charlie, Journey (her dog).
What does he need: Someone to look out for, and who will look out for her in return.
Need to Learn: Sometimes when you think everyone is out to get you, you're not being nearly as prepared as you are paranoid.
Need to say: "I trust you"... and mean it.
Emotional Problem: Not being good enough for the Harper name or family, the possibility of being contaminated by possession, not getting rid of Jasmine when she had the chance (it hasn't yet occurred to her that a three year old taking on a demon would have been a bad idea).
